  4. Overview:
  5.  
  6. The meeting was held at the University of California, Irvine on 6/12/92.
  7. A list of the members in attendance is attached to this document as well as a
  8. white paper written by Kevin Nolan and a complete list of the requirements
  9. that were submitted to the Requirements Analysis group. The goals of this
  10. meeting were to review the requirements analysis work thus far, to continue
  11. the analysis discussions and to develop new work items for the next meeting.

  14. General Discussions:

  16. The agenda for this meeting was as follows:
  17.     * Review work accomplished at the Santander Spain meeting.
  18.     * Discuss white paper written by Kevin Nolan.
  19.     * Continue review of the draft Design Objectives document.
  20.     * Review and update the work schedule.
  21.     * Develop new work items for the next meeting.

  24. Santander Meeting Summary:
  25.  
  26. Kevin Nolan gave a brief summary of the Santander Spain meeting. The
  27. following are the highlights:
  28.     * Dominique Rodriguez presented the first draft of the Design
  29.            Objectives (DO) document.
  30.     * Kevin Nolan presented a top-down design methodology using
  31.            a control system paradigm. This kind of design methodology 
  32.            is required by various users.
  33.     * Began detailed analysis of the draft DO document.
  34.         + General agreements reached:
  35.             - Generalize operational semantics to more than just
  36.                 electrical. Allow representation of other physical
  37.                 systems such as thermal and mechanical.
  38.             - Language will NOT standardize implementation
  39.                 algorithms.
  40.     * Kevin Nolan agreed to write a white paper on various issues.
  41.     * Robert Cottrell agreed to update the DO document and return
  42.         the master copy to Hazem El-Tahawy to manage.
  43.     * Further discussion will be by email, using the mailing list set
  44.         up by Robert Cottrell. The address of the mailing list is:

  55. Review of White Paper:

  57. Kevin Nolan presented his white paper to the group and lead a discussion of
  58. it. A copy of this paper is attached to these minutes.

  61. Continued Review of DO:
  62.  
  63. The remainder of the meeting was devoted to continuing discussion and analysis
  64. of the DO document at the point that the group had stopped at in Santander.
  65. A set of new work items was developed as a result of these discussions:
  66. 1. Kevin Nolan agreed to write two white papers:
  67.     * Definition of the Continuous Time Operational Semantic
  68.        Model.
  69.     * Interaction between the Discrete and Continuous Time    Domains.
  70. 2. Dave Barton agreed to write a glossary of terms.

  94. The following are the new work items to be completed by the next meeting which
  95. will be held in conjunction with the EURO-DAC conference on Tuesday,
  96. September 8th. from 1800 to 2000:
  97. 1. Distribute the final list of requirements. (Mark Brown, this list will be
  98.     delivered with these minutes)
  99. 2. Write white papers regarding:
  100.     * Definition of the Continuous Time Operational Semantic
  101.        Model. (Kevin Nolan)
  102.     * Interaction between the Discrete and Continuous Time     Domains.
